Somewhere in the tropical rain forests of the Americas is a flock of these rare Candy Corn Parrots. It's a little known, and kinda gross, rumor but it's believed the droppings of these parrots are quite sweet on the human pallet.

How cool is that? It's basically a jelly-roll cake with vanilla frosting, candy corn, and green fondant. Sounds like a great weekend cake project to make!

I mean, every time I see a regular construction cone (especially the ones with the reflector band at the top) I salivate for candy corn. Yet this project is so simple according to Zakka Life. All you need are some cones and acrylic paint.

I think instead of putting fake tombstones in the front yard as Halloween decorations, imagine giant candy corn along the walkway!

It happens twice a year -- once in March and once in September -- and each is referred to as an Equinox (from the Latin for 'equal' and 'night' meaning the sun is over the Equator). And today is one of those days.

What does that mean for us? In the Northern Hemisphere it means today is the first day of Autumn or Fall.

And what does Autumn mean for candy corn lovers? It's for sale in abundance!

So eat up before we transition from Candy Corn Season to Left-over Candy Corn Season in December, then to Easter Candy Corn Season in March, then to Candy Corn Pre-Season in June.

Candy Corn Addiction is Hereditary?

It's not just me, it's my whole family that loves the sweet kernels. The other day I posted on Facebook that I was visiting the National Confectioners Association. My sister commented asking if I got any fancy candy corn while I was there. She was curious because she and her family had been chowing down on "the regular stuff" all day.

And it's not even October yet.

And I've already polished off 2 containers: Harvest Mix and regular Candy Corn.

I'm going to try a new series here about the various places Candy Corn comes from. It's not all one source you know. Truth be told, it's probably from a part of all the places I'm going to show you. To get that sweet goodness taste of candy corn, it's gotta come from various sources!

In Part 1, I'll show you a plant called the Candy Corn Plant, or Cuphea micropetala. It's originally from Paraguay but can be grown indoors just about anywhere.

Lunch with the Candy Man

I had a great lunch yesterday and it wasn't full of Candy Corn -- though that would have just taken the cake!

After I started this blog, I met Carl who works at the National Confectioners Association in DC and one of the bloggers for Candy Dish Blog. Yesterday I got to visit the NCA, get a tour, eat some candy, meet some fine folks, and go to lunch with a couple of them!
